Russia continues shelling of Ukraine: explosions again in Kyiv, metro work stopped in Kharkov

On the night of October 18 and in the morning, Russia continued shelling Ukrainian territories, including using Shahed-136 kamikaze drones. In Kharkiv, due to shelling, the movement of trains in the subway was again stopped , citizens can use the stations as shelters, the press service of the Kharkiv metro said in a statement.

In the morning, the mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov , announced two series of explosions, an industrial area of ​​​​the city could be under attack.

The mayor of Kiev Vitaliy Klitschko announced the explosions in the Desnyansky district. According to him, the strike occurred on a "critical infrastructure facility." Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko confirms three hits on the objects of the energy supply system in Kyiv.

Explosions also thundered in Krivoy Rog in the Dnipropetrovsk region in the morning, Alexander Vilkul, the head of the military administration of the city, wrote on his Telegram channel. He also announced the launch of X-101 cruise missiles from TU-95 from Volgodonsk. According to him, Russia shelled the Nikopol region from the Grad MLRS and heavy artillery. As a result of shelling by cannon artillery, power lines in the village of Vyshetarasovka were damaged, and almost a thousand families were left without electricity. At night, Ukrainian air defense destroyed the Shahed-136 kamikaze drone, Vilkul added.

Two missile strikes were carried out at the energy infrastructure facility in the Dnieper at night, a fire started, said the head of the Dnepropetrovsk OVA, Valentin Reznichenko. Part of the city remains without electricity and water supply, one of the pumping stations of Dneprovodkanal is de-energized.

In Zhytomyr, two “arrivals” were recorded at an energy infrastructure facility, said Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The city is experiencing power outages.

Nikolaev was fired upon by S-300 missiles at night. There is a hit in a two-story building, a man's body was found under the rubble, said the head of the Nikolaev OVA Vitaly Kim in the Telegram channel. According to the operational command "South", on the night of October 18, Russia attacked the region with Shahed-136 kamikaze drones, five drones were shot down, while one of them was shot down by territorial defense forces. Also at night, Mykolaiv came under massive rocket fire from the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, Kim notes:

“As a result of the shelling, a two-story residential building was destroyed. From under the rubble, rescuers removed the body of a man. The rescue work has now been completed. Also in the central district of the city, multi-storey residential buildings, a square and nearby shopping pavilions were damaged.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the night shelling.

“They continue to do what they do best – to terrorize and kill civilians. In Nikolaev, the enemy destroyed a residential building with C-300 missiles. A man died. There was also a blow to the flower market, the chestnut square. I wonder what Russian terrorists fought against at these peaceful facilities?

He added that Russia will not change anything for itself by such actions, but will only confirm the "destructive and murderous essence."
