In Nikolaev, during a meeting with the mayor, the head of the local ritual service was detained, the SBU reports . According to the department, he handed over to Russia the personal data of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, employees of the National Police and the regional prosecutor's office, as well as lists of the dead Ukrainian defenders. During the search, the SBU found correspondence between the detainee and the curator, the department reports.
The SBU statement says that the detainee headed the Russian intelligence network in Nikolaev. According to the department, he also collected intelligence on the deployment and routes of work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region. “His other task was to inform the aggressor about the operation of Nikolaev’s critical infrastructure facilities and other closed issues that were discussed at meetings of the City Council. The official tried to involve two of his subordinates and two more residents of the city, including a senior police officer,” the statement says.
A case was initiated against the detainee under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – treason committed under martial law.
The identity of a representative of the Russian special service, who coordinated the activities of the Russian department in the territory of the temporarily occupied Kherson, was also established.
