In the Saratov region, the authorities decided to cancel New Year's fireworks and concerts. This was stated by Governor Roman Busargin during a direct line.

According to the head of the region, the decision was made after a survey of local residents, which took place in his Telegram channel. At the time of writing, there were 17,500 votes in the poll, the majority of which (69%) favor the option “Cancel concerts and fireworks, but leave Christmas trees for children.” The population of the Saratov region, according to Rosstat for 2021, is 2,442,575 people. And according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Saratov region - 2,608,300 people. It turns out that the governor made his decision based on the votes of less than 1% of the population.

“We launched a poll, and the answer that it is necessary to cancel the fireworks and concerts absolutely won. I voted for this too. New Year is a family holiday. But it would be wrong to take this holiday away from our children. Therefore, we leave Christmas trees, leave everything related to children. Moreover, this year we will hold a separate Christmas tree for mobilized children.”

In September, in several cities of Russia - Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Voronezh and Sovetsk - the authorities abandoned the celebrations and fireworks for the City Day. Local residents demanded to cancel concerts and shows from some heads because of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, in Moscow, the holiday in honor of the 875th anniversary of the city was not canceled. On September 10, despite the military disaster near Kharkov, a festive fireworks display took place in Moscow. It was on that day that the Armed Forces of Ukraine broke through the front near Kharkov and occupied the western part of the city of Kupyansk.
