Publishing service Ridero has warned its authors that they must self-censor voluntarily looking for LGBT topics in my books and remove them from sale within 5 days on the eve of the entry into force of the Khinshtein-Ostanina homophobic package of laws adopted by the State Duma.

“For violation of the provisions of this law, a fine of up to 200,000 RU is expected to be imposed on an individual (in our case, the author of the book,” the service sent a warning to its authors.

– We care about you, so we strongly recommend that you check your book. If the text, cover, illustrations, or imprint contain information that can be considered related to non-traditional sexual relations, then the book must be removed from publication.

This must be done within 5 calendar days after receiving this letter.

Here is a list of topics that may fall under the text, cover, abstract, illustrations, or imprint of your book:

- information about the attractiveness of non-traditional sexual relationships or preferences;

- information that forms a distorted idea of the social equivalence of traditional and non-traditional sexual relations;

- information about gender reassignment.

After removing the book, you will be able to correct the moments that fall under the violation of the law, and re-send the book to our moderators for review.

The book will be checked in accordance with the new law. In each case, we will try to give you recommendations for changes, if any.

Note that against this background, the publishing house PopcornBooks, which published a novel about a gay couple "Summer in a Pioneer Tie", announced a flash sale of their books with similar themes.

Напомним, 28 октября компания «Букмейт» – учредитель издательства «Попкорн букс», издавшей "Summer in a Pioneer Tie", – была announced "foreign agent".
