The British authorities have added twelve persons from the senior command and command staff of the Russian Armed Forces to the lists of sanctions directed against Russia. The corresponding statement of the British Foreign Office says that the sanctions are related to strikes against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
Among those affected by the UK sanctions are Mikhail Teplinskiy, Commander of the Airborne Forces, Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces Sergey Karakaev, Head of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense Nikolai Parshin, Mikhail Matveevsky, Head of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Ground Forces, as well as commanders of two combined arms armies of the Southern and Eastern military districts.
The head of the Main Computing Center of the Ministry of Defense (MCC), Major General Robert Baranov, who was described in the investigation by The Insider, Der Spiegel and Bellingcat, also came under restrictions.
This investigation revealed a secret unit within the Main Computing Center (MCC) of the Russian Armed Forces that determines flight missions for high-precision missiles. Thirty military engineers were identified, most of them young women and men with a background in information technology and computer game development. Detailing their calls, compared with the shelling of Ukraine, confirms their involvement in these missile strikes.
Along with the Russian military, London imposed sanctions restrictions on three individuals and one Iranian company for deliveries of drones to Russia. Sanctions were imposed on the manufacturer of engines for "Geraniums" – the Iranian concern MADO, its CEO and Iranian officials who contributed to the supply of drones. The sanctions include a travel ban and an asset freeze.
