The authorities of the Kyiv and Nikolaev regions reported about drone strikes, and Kherson and Kharkov regions were also under fire on New Year's Eve. The network published a video of eyewitnesses and photos of the consequences of shelling.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on New Year's Eve, Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 45 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones, and the Kyiv authorities reported damage to an infrastructure facility. Kherson and nearby settlements were left without power due to the strikes.

Russia captured a strategically important village
The WarMapper resource has published a map that reflects the situation at the front as of 00:00 on January 1st. According to WarMapper analysts, on December 31, Russian troops captured the village of Dorozhnyanka in the Zaporozhye region, which is located south of Gulyaipol.
Russian-appointed representative of the "administration" Vladimir Rogov said that control over the strategically important village of Dorozhnyanka opens up the possibility of an attack on Gulyaipole for the RF Armed Forces.
The situation in Bakhmut
In Bakhmut, Donetsk region, the situation is unchanged, Russian troops are moving to the northeastern outskirts of the city, WarMapper emphasizes.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko posted a video from Bakhmut and stated that he was celebrating the New Year together with the soldiers of the fourth brigade of the National Guard, the Svoboda battalion. He delivered aid to the troops, including equipment, and also donated a "cultural program to keep morale up."
“Our soldiers are celebrating the New Year in combat conditions. Tired, with a desire to sleep, but indestructible and resolute. They will do everything to make 2023 a year of peace. So that everyone who comes with a weapon leaves our territory feet first.”
Military analyst and former US Navy unit commander Chuck Pfarrer claims that Russia has resumed massive attacks on the eastern and southern outskirts of Bakhmut. In the Luhansk region, in the area of Svatovo and Kremennaya, Ukrainian forces are watching how parts of the Russian Federation retreat to the village of Zmievka, Pfarrer notes. According to him, on December 30-31, Russia lost several combat vehicles, as well as two new T-90 battle tanks.
Russia's reserves are depleted, Putin justifies the war to the Russians
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) notes that Russian President Vladimir Putin's annual New Year's address shows that he remains focused on justifying the war in Ukraine and its cost. Analysts also concluded that Russian forces are likely to have run out of artillery ammunition, and as a result, it will be difficult for them to maintain the pace of "operations" in Ukraine. At the same time, the latest blow to the critical infrastructure of Ukraine was less intense compared to the previous massive strikes.
Three powerful shots
Russia has a reserve of cruise missiles for 2-3 powerful massive missile strikes against Ukraine, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Vadim Skibitsky, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. He said on the air of the telethon that after all the strikes, the Russians had a shortage of ballistic missiles.
“It (deficit) is associated primarily with Iskander ballistic missiles. As you can see, they have been using this type of weapon for a long time. We are talking about ballistic missiles. And the stocks of "Caliber" are still running out. The stocks of air-launched cruise missiles Kh-101, Kh-555 are also greatly reduced. Our calculations are very simple. The maximum that Russia is capable of is two or three such powerful strikes, as we have seen recently.”
Happy New Year Guys. Prigogine visited the morgue
One of the founders of PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, visited the morgue on New Year's Eve, where, among other things, the bodies of dead PMC fighters are taken. The video was published by the Federal News Agency (FAN).
