The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has transferred all rights to broadcast the games in the European region in 2026-2032 to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). This was reported on the IOC website. Russia and Belarus were not included in the list of countries where the Olympics will be shown.
This list includes 49 territories.
Thus, the EBU and WBD received the rights to show the winter games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo (2026), the summer games in Los Angeles (2028), the 2030 Olympics, the capital of which has not yet been chosen, and the Olympics in Brisbane, Australia ( 2032). The rights also include broadcasts from all Youth Olympic Games during the specified period.
IOC chief Thomas Bach noted that since the committee redistributes 90% of its revenues, a long-term agreement with broadcasters provides financial stability to the sports movement and ultimately helps support the athletes themselves.
The rights to broadcast in Europe the upcoming Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris in 2024, belong to the American broadcaster Discovery Communications.
In February, the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, Channel One and Ostankino Radio House withdrew from the European Broadcasting Union. The decision was made after Russia was banned from participating in Eurovision.
