Aeroflot and other carriers are asking to allow them to increase aircraft maintenance intervals due to sanctions

Due to sanctions restrictions, Russian airlines, including Aeroflot, are asking the Federal Air Transport Agency and Rostransnadzor to allow maintenance of foreign aircraft (Boeing and Airbus) at extended intervals. Marat Tereshchenko, adviser to the technical director of Aeroflot, told about this, Izvestia reports .

“We need to introduce two procedures. The first is the process of exemption (exclusion) for operators from the requirements of standard documentation when their full implementation in a given format is impossible. For example, this is a procedure for exceptional service interval extensions. And the second is the order of alternative methods for determining compliance with the requirements of airworthiness directives, ”Tereshchenko said.

According to him, we are talking about one-time derogations from the requirements, and not about regular practice. Also, airlines must have evidence that the delayed inspection does not affect safety.

He also pointed out that, according to the documentation of the developers of foreign aircraft, the operator has the right to manage the maintenance intervals himself.

Since the middle of last year, the number of serious accidents in Russian aviation has been growing rapidly . According to experts, the main reason is Russia's complete unpreparedness for sanctions and the lack of quality control of parts that are now bought from partners from "friendly countries" without carrying out the necessary certification.
