The administration of the Kazakh city of Baikonur, which is leased from Russia, has promised to pay 260,000 rubles to those mobilized, as well as to volunteers who go to fight in Ukraine. As stated in the message of the prosecutor's office of the Baikonur complex, the decision was made "as a measure of social support."

To receive a payment, a resident of the city who has entered into a contract for military service, or his authorized representative, must submit an application to the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Baikonur Administration.

Baikonur, where the cosmodrome of the same name is located, is leased from Russia until 2050 and has the status of a federal city of the Russian Federation. Russia pays $115 million a year for rent. 73 thousand people live in the city, about two thirds of them are citizens of Kazakhstan.
