FSB officers detained 34 people in the case of embezzlement of 2 billion rubles from the Pension Fund of Russia (PFR). According to the press service of the FSB, the criminal group included both current and former employees of the fund.

According to the investigation, in the period from 2019 to 2021, the suspects illegally recalculated pensions for residents of Ingushetia. “Legal pensions were delivered to the post offices of the Republic of Ingushetia for distribution to the population, and the funds illegally obtained under the guise of recalculating pensions were stolen by members of an organized criminal group,” the FSB said in a statement. To hide the theft, the attackers forged reporting documents.

The criminal case is being investigated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale). The searches took place at more than 60 addresses in Ingushetia, North Ossetia and Moscow.
