Former Kommersant journalist and former adviser to the head of Roscosmos Ivan Safronov, who was sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime colony in the case of "treason", was taken from Lefortovo to IK-7 in the village of Areyskoye, Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was stated to TASS by his lawyer Dmitry Katchev.

They took him there for almost two months.

“Safronov was delivered to IK-7 in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. My colleagues and I visited him there. The conditions of his detention are normal, our client has no complaints about them.”

Prisoners from the Krasnoyarsk region are often sent for treatment to the Regional Tuberculosis Hospital in Krasnoyarsk. There are isolated areas where prisoners objectionable to the leadership of the Krasnoyarsk department of the Federal Penitentiary Service are beaten, tortured and broken with the help of punitive psychiatry. The Insider has found people who have experienced or witnessed violence in KTB-1.

Safronov was transferred from Lefortovo on December 29 and taken away in an unknown direction, his supporters reported on Telegram.

The 32-year-old journalist was sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 500 thousand rubles, as well as two years of restriction of freedom after his release in the case of "treason" and "transfer of secret information" about the Russian Armed Forces. The verdict was the toughest under this article in recent years. As the publication "Proekt" found out, none of the "witnesses" knows anything about the "crimes" of the journalist. All the "secret" information that he allegedly passed on is in the public domain. Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the sentence very harsh and argued that if Safronov decided to petition the president for a pardon, he would have to fully admit his guilt. However, there is no such condition in the law, The Insider noted.
