Roskomnadzor banned state organizations from using foreign messengers. Banned including WhatsApp and Telegram

On March 1, the provisions of the federal law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection” came into force, which prohibit state organizations from using foreign messengers. As follows from the message of Roskomnadzor, the following services were banned:

1. Discord

2.Microsoft Teams,

3. Skype for Business,

4 Snapchat

5. Telegram,

6.Threema,

7. Viber,

8. whatsapp,

9. WeChat.

According to the wording in Part 8 of Art. 10 of the law, the use of these messengers is prohibited "when providing state and municipal services." The ban applies to state-owned companies, state and municipal unitary enterprises, companies in whose authorized capital the state's share exceeds 50%, as well as certain credit organizations.
