The UN Human Rights Office has previously confirmed the authenticity of the video, in which an unknown person shoots an unarmed Ukrainian soldier after his words “Glory to Ukraine!”.
UN representatives also pointed out that in all cases of inhumane treatment of prisoners of war, an impartial investigation should be carried out. They mentioned violations on both the Russian and Ukrainian sides:
“Following Russia’s armed attack on Ukraine more than a year ago, the UN Human Rights Office recorded numerous violations of international humanitarian law against prisoners of war, including cases of mass executions of both Russian and Ukrainian prisoners of war. All of these allegations require impartial and effective investigations, and those responsible must be held accountable.”
The video in question was circulated on Telegram channels on March 6. It is alleged that it filmed the moment of the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by Russian soldiers. He is standing by a dug trench without any weapons, and the voice-over says "take him off." The man says: “Glory to Ukraine!”, after which he is shot from machine guns. The Armed Forces of Ukraine previously established that the name of the deceased was Timofey Shadura, he served in the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Konstantin Ostrozhsky.
