The International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) has banned transgender athletes from participating in international competitions in the women's category. It is reported by the BBC. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said that from March 31, no transgender athlete will be allowed to compete in women's world competitions.

“Unlike athletes with sexual developmental disabilities (DSD), transgender people cannot compete in athletics with women, regardless of discipline,” Coe said.

A specially created working group will study this issue comprehensively. Coe added that this decision is temporary, it can be reviewed, but now "it is dictated by the overarching principle of protecting the female category."

In June 2022, the International Rugby League Federation (IRL, Rugby 13) banned transgender women from participating in international competitions under its auspices. The IRL said the ban will remain in effect until the organization adopts criteria for transgender participation in tournaments, as the IOC allows the governing bodies of each sport to determine the rules for the admission of athletes.
