The Serbian authorities have agreed to supply weapons to Ukraine or have already sent them, according to a classified Pentagon document that was leaked online as a result of a recent leak . On a document dated March 2 titled “Europe | A response to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict,” drew the attention of Reuters .
The document lists "estimated positions" of 38 European countries in response to Ukraine's requests for military assistance. It follows from it that Serbia refused to train Ukrainian forces, but committed to send lethal assistance or has already provided it. The document also says that Serbia is ready to provide weapons to Ukraine in the future. Serbia is the only European country that did not support sanctions against Russia because of the war in Ukraine.
Reuters was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the document, the note notes.
Updated. Serbian Defense Minister Vucevic denies supplying weapons to Ukraine: "I repeat, Serbia did not send weapons to Ukraine, and everything that has been published on this topic is a false assumption." At the same time, the minister admitted that some weapons from Serbia could end up in Ukraine, but, according to him, not at the will of Belgrade. According to him, this can happen because of states that "do not comply with bilateral treaties."
The day before, the Washington Post, citing a leak of US intelligence documents, reported that Egypt was going to secretly produce weapons for Russia. Dmitry Peskov called these messages "another duck."
The document, which is dated February 17, 2023, describes a conversation that took place between the President of Egypt and the leadership of the Egyptian army. In addition, a secret report reported on Egypt's plans to supply artillery shells and gunpowder to Russia. It is noted that the president ordered to keep the production and supply of weapons secret in order to "avoid problems with the West."
Egypt is one of the closest US allies in the Middle East. The country receives large amounts of American financial and military assistance.
A few days ago, photos of "secret documents" intended, judging by the content, were widely circulated on social networks for the American military leadership. They contained confidential reports on various military and political issues, assessments of the military situation in Ukraine, a description of the process of preparing and equipping units and formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are likely to be involved in the repeatedly announced Ukrainian counteroffensive. It is not yet completely clear whether this is a "leak" or an intentional "drain", however, in general, a significant part of the leaked information looks reliable.
