The publisher of The Wall Street Journal, financial information agency Dow Jones & Company, is offering a bail of 50 million rubles for the release of Evan Gershkovich, an employee of the publication. Tatyana Nozhkina, the journalist's lawyer, told Vot Tak's correspondent about this.

She also spoke about Gershkovich's intentions and life in the pre-trial detention center. According to her, the journalist does not admit guilt and is ready to prove his innocence. In conclusion, he reads Russian classics and watches cooking shows.

Gershkovich was detained in Yekaterinburg on March 30. On suspicion of espionage and collecting information constituting a "state secret", he was arrested for two months and sent to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center in Moscow. In Yekaterinburg, the journalist was engaged in preparing material about “Putin’s chef” and the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, and also learned from the people of the Urals how they feel about the war against Ukraine. Gershkovich faces up to 20 years in prison. On April 18, the Moscow City Court upheld his arrest.
