In the Kaluga region, four students were detained due to arson of relay cabinets on the railway, one of the defendants in the case is a minor student of the Kaluga College of Law. This is reported by the Telegram channel associated with the security forces “NO to extremism!”.
The other three detainees are students of the local technical school. According to investigators, in mid-April, a group of young people set fire to relay cabinets by the railroad in the Babyninsky District twice.
Earlier in March, FSB officers forced Artyom Begoyan, accused of setting fire to relay and battery cabinets on a railroad in Chuvashia, to give up his lawyer. In an interview with The Insider, the lawyer said that his client was pressured and intimidated. On February 4, the FSB reported on the murder of 4 people who planned an explosion on the railway.
In 2022, after the start of the war in Ukraine, arson or attempted explosions on railway tracks were regularly reported in the regions of Russia, sometimes law enforcement officers detained “rail partisans”. Also, since the beginning of the year, at least seven damages or arson of various relay cabinets in several regions of the country are known . The relay cabinet is a prefabricated structure – as a rule, a metal case with two doors.
