The Basmanny District Court sentenced 28-year-old Murat Sabanov, accused of poisoning 30 people in Moscow, to 15 years in a strict regime colony, Interfax reports , citing the press service of the city's prosecutor's office.
In May 2021, the case of Sabanov, known as the poisoner from the Pit, was already considered, then the Basmanny Court sentenced him to 16 years in a penal colony. Sabanov was charged with 25 episodes of robbery, 10 episodes of theft from a bank account, theft of six passports and fraud. For all episodes, Sabanov was found guilty. However, the case was later remanded for retrial.
In court, Sabanov declared his repentance, partially admitted his guilt (except for causing grievous bodily harm). The man found his victims, in particular, in the area of \u200b\u200bKhokhlovskaya Square, which is also called the Pit (the place was popular with young people), for which Sabanov got his nickname. According to investigators, he got acquainted with people who drank alcoholic beverages or were already in a state of alcoholic intoxication, gained confidence in them and urged them to drink liquid, into which he previously mixed medicinal substances that depress the central nervous system of a person. The victim inevitably lost consciousness, which Sabanov used, stealing the personal belongings of the poisoned. The total amount of stolen property exceeds 1 million rubles.
