An employee of the police department of the Soviet District of Makhachkala, suspected in the case of the death of Kurban Dalgatov, has been arrested for two months, the Caucasian Knot reports. This is the fourth security official detained in this case.
Kurban Dalgatov, a resident of Makhachkala, was detained on the evening of January 20 as a witness in the shooting case. According to the investigation, he helped a man who had wounded a friend with a traumatic pistol to escape. Dalgatov spent about three hours in the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs, and the next morning he ended up in the central hospital, where his death was recorded.
Relatives of the man reported torture, according to them, the athlete was strangled and beaten with electric current. Photos taken in the morgue appeared on the network, they show hematomas from the blows on the deceased. Dalgatov had the title of candidate master of sports in freestyle wrestling and had never complained about his health before.
On January 23, the head of the police department of the Soviet District of Makhachkala and three of his deputies were suspended from work for the duration of an internal check. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on abuse of power, which negligently caused the death of the victim. Three suspected police officers were detained: Islam Atavov, Magomed Malikov, Magomedkamil Kurbanov. All of them were taken into custody, they face up to 15 years in prison.
