The court arrested Alexander Permyakov for two months, accused of attempted murder of former writer Zakhar Prilepin. The Prosecutor's Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, on behalf of the Prosecutor General's Office, supported the petition of the preliminary investigation bodies to select a measure of restraint. Permyakov is charged with “a terrorist attack resulting in the death of a person” (Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and of illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, and transportation of explosives by an organized group (Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code).
The assassination attempt on Prilepin was committed on May 6 in the village of Pionerskoye, Nizhny Novgorod Region. The car driven by the propagandist exploded. Together with Prilepin, his friend was inside - 27-year-old native of Lugansk Alexander Shubin, who had fought on the side of the "LNR" in recent years. Prilepin himself survived.
Permyakov was detained a few hours after the explosion. The security forces released a video in which he says he was born in Druzhkovka, Donetsk region, in 1993. In 2018, Permyakov was allegedly “recruited by the Ukrainian special services,” and in 2022, on their own instructions, he came to Russia to “eliminate” Prilepin. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said they could neither confirm nor deny their involvement in the explosion.
