The Central District Military Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced serviceman Marcel Kandarov to three years in a colony-settlement for refusing to participate in the war on the territory of Ukraine. He was convicted under the article on unauthorized abandonment of the military unit. It is reported by "OVD-Info".
In early January, Kandarov was sentenced to five years in prison (part 5 of article 337 of the Criminal Code), but after an appeal, the term was reduced. According to one of the episodes, the case was reclassified to a softer article on non-attendance at work.
In February 2022, Kandarov served under a contract in an exercise near the border with Ukraine. After the start of a full-scale Russian military invasion of Ukraine, he returned to Russia for rehabilitation and submitted a letter of resignation. Consideration of his report was delayed, and the serviceman went home, saying that he did not want to kill people.
Three months later, the man was arrested for leaving his unit without permission and placed in SIZO-1 in Ufa.
