Kazakhstan did not agree on the appointment of the former head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Sergei Gaidai, to the post of Ukrainian ambassador to the republic. About this with reference to its sources reports "Dzerkalo Tyzhnya".
At the request of official Kyiv regarding his candidacy, the authorities of Kazakhstan "softly but firmly made it clear" that they would like to see a professional diplomat in his place.
The previous Ambassador of Ukraine to Kazakhstan, Petr Vrublevsky, was dismissed from his post by President Volodymyr Zelensky after the scandal that erupted in October 2022 after Vrublevsky's interview with Kazakh blogger Dias Kuzairov, recorded in August of that year.
In it, he said that the Ukrainians are trying to kill as many Russians as possible now so that next generations do not have to do it. After that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan assigned Vrublevsky the status of an undesirable person, and the Russian Investigative Committee conducted a check on him.
Pyotr Vrublevsky is a professional diplomat. He graduated from the Institute of International Relations of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University.
Sergei Gaidai has been the head of the Luhansk Regional Administration since October 2019. On March 15, 2023, he was dismissed from his post by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He really has no diplomatic experience.
