The Russian artist , acting under the pseudonym Error, held the action "The Future is on Fire" in Georgia, timed to coincide with the Day of Russia. The installation represents the inscription "Future" made of huge wooden letters, which lights up to the reading of poems by Vladimir Vysotsky, Anna Akhmatova, Sergei Yesenin and many other Russian poets.
“Today, on Russia Day, I want to ask myself: does Russia have a future? Or has it turned to ashes? From the very beginning of the war in Ukraine, as an artist, I needed to find accurate visual images of the tragedy that had happened. Of course, the main and most terrible images were before my eyes: Bucha, Irpen, the bombing of the maternity hospital, the destruction of Mariupol, the assault on Azovstal. The pain of Ukrainians is unbearable. I, as a Russian person, a Russian, will never fully understand this. And never redeem. In addition to regret and grief, I wanted to express the quintessence of this tragedy for Russia. And express it visually. It seems that this is it, ”said the artist.
“The idea to burn the “Future”, written in Cyrillic, came to me as soon as I personally realized that I would not return. More precisely, I don’t know when I can return and I’m not sure that I will return in principle. Today I do not see a Russian future for myself. For me, it burned out. And I didn't burn it. It was burned for me by the Russian state,” Error explained his plan.
