The State Duma in the second and third readings approved a bill on the release of the military from criminal liability for crimes of small or medium gravity. The law applies to those who were mobilized or signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense.
“It will be possible to get rid of liability and extinguish a criminal record after receiving a state award or dismissal from service (upon reaching the age limit for military service, for health reasons, etc.),” the State Duma website says.
The law also allows for the removal of suspended sentences.
The day before, the deputies specified in the amendments to the bill that the release would not affect those suspected of inciting extremism and illegal handling of nuclear materials, and the criminal record would not be removed from those who committed sexual crimes against minors or were convicted under articles on terrorism, hostage-taking, organization of an illegal armed group, treason and extremism.
