The situation at the front
The WarGonzo project of the "military officer" Semyon Pegov reports that the Ukrainian troops, with the support of artillery, managed to advance northeast of Rabotino , but the offensive operations at the Priyutnoye-Staromayorskoye line ended in failure.
The representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrey Kovalev spoke about the successes in the Bakhmut direction : new frontiers are occupied near Kleshcheevka . A representative of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Cherevaty, said that in a day the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced more than a kilometer on the flanks of Bakhmut .
Mobilized from the 83rd Special Operations Brigade and relatives of those mobilized from the 1442nd SME issued appeals ( 1 , 2 ) regarding the situation in Kleshcheevka . According to the servicemen, they stood on the front line, where they were taken by deceit, for 15 days, without the support of aviation and artillery, under constant mortar fire. During the disorderly retreat, the unit suffered heavy losses. Now they are going to be transferred back, convincing them to do it “voluntarily” and threatening otherwise with transfer to the Storm Z squad, where former prisoners serve. The mobilized express the hope that they will be taken to the territory of the Russian Federation, and the order of the command will be recognized as illegal. The post with this appeal, published in the VKontakte group Levy Biysk, was soon removed from the social network.
The former commander of the Azov regiment, Maxim Zhorin, writes that the 3rd separate assault brigade continues to move in the Bakhmut direction . Some of the heights here are already under the control of Ukrainian troops, some are “in progress”. It is noted that the enemy is trying to fight back by transferring new units, but to no avail. Zhorin also declares the use of chemical weapons by the Russian side and notes the active work of enemy aviation.
The Telegram channel Rybar, affiliated with the Russian Defense Ministry, posted a video showing a strike on a group of Ukrainian servicemen in Razdolovka , north of Soledar . The authors of the channel note that the activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Bakhmut region has decreased, but they attribute this to a regrouping before a new offensive.
Mutual shelling and sabotage
Search and rescue operations have been completed after a missile attack on Lviv. The total number of victims rose to 10 dead. 45 people were injured, including three children.

According to the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of July 7, 18 kamikaze drones of the Shahed family (aka Geran) were launched from the southeast direction ( Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Krasnodar Territory ). Anti-aircraft missile forces, fighter aircraft and mobile fire groups shot down 12 of them.
"Shaheds" attacked the Dnepropetrovsk region . According to the regional military administration, all of them were shot down. The wreckage of one of them fell on a car moving along the highway. As a result, two people died. Another kamikaze drone fell on the territory of a private enterprise in the Krivoy Rog region , causing a fire on an area of 100 square meters. m.

The city of Zaporozhye was hit by S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, as a result, one of the infrastructure facilities caught fire. No harm done.
Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat estimated the number of missiles that Russia is capable of launching into Ukraine. According to him, now, on average, Kalibr cruise missiles are launched three times less often than X-101/555, because the Russian military-industrial complex produces only 10-15 Kalibr missiles per month. Recall that on the eve of the representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexei Gromov voiced a similar assessment – according to his data, up to 100 missiles of all types are produced in the Russian Federation every month.
Russian sources report that for the first time the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at the territory of Russia with six American Excalibur projectiles. According to their information, they were fired at a village located in the Belgorod region near the border. For shelling, the Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer "Bogdan" was used.
If this is true, then one can doubt that the Ukrainian Armed Forces really fired at an ordinary village, since Excalibur belongs to the class of high-precision guided missiles and is used to hit specific (usually valuable from a military point of view) targets. In addition to the high cost of such ammunition, their indiscriminate use, and even in the amount of six pieces, would be at least irrational.
Losses
A video of the destruction of a Russian T-80 tank on the outskirts of Bakhmut has been published on the Telegram channel of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukrainian journalist Yuri Butusov publishes footage of the consequences of an unsuccessful Russian attack in the Avdiivka direction . According to him, the Russians lost more than 10 people killed, and the Ukrainian forces got two T-80BV tanks. It should be noted that back on June 30, OSINT-project Oryx volunteer Yakub Yanovsky reported that the documented losses of Russian tanks of this model (adopted in 1985) exceeded the number of lost T-72B3s (2013 model), which, in his opinion, indicates mass use of equipment from Soviet stocks.
There was a video with a hit on the MaxxPro armored car. Apparently, he was hit by an ATGM shell. The video shows that the driver is running out of the cab, so the armor probably fulfilled its function.
A noteworthy video shows yet another surrender of a Russian serviceman with the help of a Ukrainian drone. In the footage, a soldier follows a drone across a field pitted with shell craters. Further, an interview is shown in which he says that he served in the Storm Z detachment (former prisoners serve in it), chants “Glory to Ukraine!” and “Putin is fucked up!”, as well as talks about the good treatment he was treated in captivity and calls on other Russian military personnel not to believe stories about Ukrainians who kill prisoners. It is worth noting that the stories of any prisoners of war who may be under pressure should be treated with extreme caution.
A video of the operation of the Russian “mine trap” is circulating on social networks: after the assault detachment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine enters the trenches near Zherebyanki , pre-laid mines explode in it. Apparently, the Ukrainian attack aircraft were killed or injured.
Telegram channel “Tanks. History and modernity. Btvt.info" once again talks about where the reports come from with incredibly high numbers of losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the reports of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation – using the example of a T-64BV tank blown up by a mine. The wrecked car, abandoned by the crew, was hit twice with the Lancet loitering ammunition (moreover, the first drone did not hit the tank, which was eventually destroyed by the second drone hitting the engine compartment). “Then he will be knocked out a couple of times by the Ka-52 and there will be at least four <damaged – The Insider> tanks,” the authors of the channel explain.
Armaments and military equipment
The United States officially approved the transfer of cluster munitions to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (most likely, we are talking about 155-mm DPICM cumulative fragmentation artillery shells). According to AP, the total cost of the next US military aid package will be $800 million. In addition to cluster munitions, it will include Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, Stryker armored personnel carriers, howitzer and MLRS shells, as well as artillery shells and rockets for HIMARS MLRS.
American analyst Rob Lee writes that Ukraine would sooner or later have to curtail its offensive due to the depletion of shells. However, with the receipt of cluster munitions, offensive operations will last longer, in addition, a change in the strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is now possible. The New York Times claims that cluster munitions will be supplied to Ukraine until the Americans increase the production of conventional artillery shells.

The Pentagon is ready to supply only this type of cluster munitions, for which the probability of failure of submunitions (they in this case pose a long-term danger to civilians) is 2.35%.
The EU allocates 500 million euros for the production of ammunition. These funds will be used to develop the production of both artillery shells and MLRS missiles. So far, this is only a preliminary agreement, it still has to be approved by the European Council and the European Parliament, but it is expected that all the necessary procedures for the document will take place before the end of July.
The Czech government has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine that includes flight simulators for training on F-16 fighter jets, combat helicopters and 100,000 unnamed ammunition.
A train with 20-25 M109L self-propelled guns was spotted in Italy. They were reportedly recently refurbished and are now on their way to Ukraine. Another batch of such self-propelled guns is also expected to be sent soon. Italy has already supplied the Armed Forces with more than 100 such vehicles.
Slovakia will supply Ukraine with 16 Zuzanna-2 self-propelled howitzers and open a joint venture for their production. This became known after a meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova.
Germany announced a new batch of equipment sent to Ukraine. It included a Biber armored bridgelayer, a Dachs armored engineering vehicle, six 8×8 HX81 tank carriers, three semi-trailers, three radio jamming systems and two UAV countermeasures systems.
Ukrainian sources posted a video of the use of another Russian MT-LB stuffed with explosives. Despite the Ukrainian fire, the self-propelled explosive device nevertheless reached the forest plantation and exploded (before that, the crew jumped out of the MT-LB). Whether the Ukrainian military suffered in this case is unknown.

The Helicopterpilot Telegram channel associated with the Russian army aviation writes about the work on the modernization of Mi-28NM helicopters for the use of Whirlwind missiles, since there are supposedly “no suitable targets” for a standard LMUR (light multi-purpose guided missile, also known as “product 305”).
A video of the use of a (apparently unsuccessful) Ukrainian improvised air defense installation made of six twin AK-74 assault rifles, which we talked about in one of the previous reports, has appeared.
The first unexploded bomb FAB-250 with the UMPC module, which allows it to plan and control its flight, has been recorded . This indicates the expansion of the range of aerial bombs that can be used with this block (until now it was known that it was equipped with 500 kg caliber ammunition). In this case, the module often does not work, and the bombs do not fall where they were supposed to.

"Voyenkor" Aleksey Sukonkin writes about sending equipment to the front that needs repair. According to him, repairs will be carried out in the occupied territories by the forces of repair battalions, that is, as Sukonkin says, in fact, under enemy fire. “Wouldn’t it be better to restore the equipment removed from storage even before being shipped to the troops, in a calm atmosphere?” He asks a rhetorical question. On the other hand, perhaps the services of repair battalions will not be required – there is evidence that substandard equipment without repair is sent directly to the front line, despite the fact that it says "Do not touch – 2 cat[egory]".
Meanwhile, Uralvagonzavod reported on the shipment of B-46 tank engines and power units, which are "reliable and easy to operate." The thesis that they have passed "all the necessary tests" is repeated several times. These engines are not used in T-72 tanks, starting from the T-72B model of 1985 (where they were replaced by V-84 ), but they are installed , among other things, on modernized versions of the T-62 and T-55 tanks, which are now mass delivered to the front.

About the main events of the war on July 5 – in the previous report: “The Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing in Zaporozhye, a missile attack on Lviv, the United States is preparing for the supply of cluster munitions. What's going on at the front .
