The head of Dagestan apologized for the decision of the authorities of Derbent to drive residents to the draft board using a loudspeaker

In Dagestan, Derbent, the authorities tried to drive residents to the military registration and enlistment office using loudspeakers: the Emergencies Ministry car drove around the city, and those sitting in it urged men to come to the military registration and enlistment office with a passport and military ID. The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, apologized to the townspeople for the incident and called the incident "utter stupidity."

“Make a fool pray to God, he will hurt his forehead! This is just about a strange decision taken in Derbent – in the city they called to appear at the military registration and enlistment office with the help of loudspeakers. The organizers themselves call this an additional measure of informing citizens. And for me, it’s utter stupidity, ”wrote the head of Dagestan in his Telegram channel.

Melikov called the incident a "trick", which gave rise to panic.

“Dear Derbents, forgive me for this trick. I instructed all responsible persons, including law enforcement agencies, to urgently understand the situation and take the most stringent measures against the perpetrators,” he added.

The administration of the city of RBC said that people were notified "at the request of the military registration and enlistment office through the civil defense and emergency management vehicles." They also admitted that "perhaps the wording was not entirely correct." Now they want to change the wording.

After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "partial" mobilization (in fact, no partial) mass protests began in Dagestan. The actions took place on September 25-26 in several cities and villages of the republic. The police and the National Guard severely dispersed the rallies. Many women took to the streets in Makhachkala, whose relatives were called up. They shouted "No to war!" and “Our children are not fertilizer!”. Women were beaten and dragged into paddy wagons, there were clashes with the security forces. On the first day of the actions, about 100 people were detained there.

So far, investigators have opened about 30 criminal cases against local residents for participating in the protests. Several people have already been sent to jail. All the detainees have bodily injuries: hematomas, brain concussion with head injury, suspected fractures.
