In Penza, a garrison military court sentenced contract serviceman Oleksandr Doroshenko to two years probation in a case of fraud related to the war in Ukraine. The man wanted to receive compensation, which is due to the wounded in the war, and tried to pass off the burn in the bath for a combat wound.
It is reported by "Kommersant". This is probably the first such verdict in Russia since the beginning of the invasion, the newspaper notes.
Doroshenko served as a tanker driver in a support company, he did not participate directly in the battles. Together with his colleagues, he delivered water, food and fuel from Russia. Sometimes they came under fire along the way.
In March, Doroshenko learned about the one-time payments promised by President Vladimir Putin for those who were wounded, maimed, injured and shell-shocked in the war – 3 million rubles. The contractor decided to get the money and tried to pass off a broken finger (he got it when he hitched a trailer to the KamAZ) and a shin burn after a bath for combat injuries.
In April, Doroshenko went to the doctor and said that these were injuries from a mine-explosive wound in Ukraine. He was hospitalized and treated for some time for "war injuries". Then he applied for the payment.
The command quickly figured out that Doroshenko was lying – in fact, when he received these "injuries", he was "deep in the rear in Russia." This was confirmed by his colleagues – he was injured due to negligence in the military unit.
Doroshenko pleaded guilty and tried to justify himself by saying that he needed the money for his sick mother. He did not appeal the verdict.
