Israel has canceled a permit allowing Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki to enter its territory. The Guardian writes about it.
The publication refers to the statement of al-Maliki himself. According to him, he was returning from the inauguration of the President of Brazil, when he learned about the cancellation of the pass. It allowed him to leave and re-enter the occupied West Bank. This option is not available to ordinary Palestinians, and only high-ranking Palestinian officials are allowed entry.
At the end of 2022, the UN General Assembly turned to the International Court of Justice in The Hague to assess the consequences of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. In response, the Israeli government approved measures to punish the Palestinians. This government was formed in December, it included representatives of right-wing parties, including those from the list of ultra-orthodox Yahadut ha-Torah.
